How it works?
Chitosan provides a residual, natural antimicrobial film containing proven, persistent antimicrobial properties. It is a natural biocompatible polymer derived from deacetylation of chitin. It has a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect, mediated by interaction of the cationic groups on Chitosan with negatively charged bacterial surface components, which inhibit trafficking of nutrients and other molecules, resulting in bacterial death. Chitosan Antimicrobial can be applied using most liquid application equipment however the preferred method is our patented Steam + Shield process which is one-step application using dry steam to disinfect and apply the solution simultaneously. This methods forms the hardest protective shell on surfaces – the hotter the steam, the harder the shield, the longer the protection! Large areas like stadiums and performance venues can be broadly treated by disinfecting with several dry steamers in high touch areas followed by a broad application of Chitosan Antimicrobial with an industrial fogger. Hard to reach surface can also be treated using an electrostatic sprayer.
The Chitosan Antimicrobial can also be wiped onto surfaces but this may slow the film formation dry time and impede the long term efficacy of the film.
